A while back I gave Gordon a copy on disc of ALL the Virginia State
Railroad Commissioner Annual reports for 1877-1902 when the State
Corporation Commission came into the picture.

In each year is the annual financial data of each common carrier
railroad. If you can get together with him, and he can find it for
you, it may provide some information you are seeking.

The files are too large to e-mail. However, if you are curious and
have the time to meander thru google books, you can find those same
things and download them yourself but be prepared to get frustrated
finding them all. They are there, just takes a bit of patience and
imagination to find some of them. Some of the 1902-1922 State
Corporation Commission reports are there, too, but they are a bit
trickier and often come in 2 parts. Figuring out which part you want
and if they have both of them gets to be a hassle at times. After
1922, you get into copyright issues and can't download them.

Feel free to contact me off-list or call if you need further help.

Looking thru those reports, you're liable to find even more
interesting and previously unknown railroads. Also, if the F&P wasn't
a common carrier, then it may not be there.

I just learned of the Farmville & Powhatan Railroad and thought I'd
share it with the list.

It was a 3-ft narrow gauge line that ran from Farmville, VA to a spot
near the confluence of the Appomattox and James Rivers called Bermuda
Hundred.

In later years it was known as the Tidewater & Western Railroad.
