Bag houses contain air filtration equipment to remove particulates from 
smokestack emissions. The filters look like giant cloth bags. Smoke 
passes  into the center and out through the bag walls and the particles 
stay behind. crude but effective.  They are similar to dust collecting 
systems for wood shops but on a huge scale
