408 is equipped to display a “restricting” aspect as well as the normal aspects of the top head.
410 can display a “restricting” aspect plus “advance approach”, “approach diverging”, “diverging clear” and “diverging approach” depending on where the signal is located and the indications that can be displayed by the next signal. Oh, and let’s not forget “clear”, “approach” and “stop and stay”.

Is there significance in that the lower target on 408 has only the center spot lighted? My very rudimentary understanding of all position lights is that their design was meant to 'mimic' a semaphore, so my expectation here would be that all three lights should be on (and that the illumination of any one of them is the same as if all three were lighted.)

Dependent on trackage beyond, it also has the ability to display:
