Now let’s take a look at the west-facing signals at East End:

I have shown the signals for the main and the siding mounted on the same
bracket. When signals associated with multiple tracks were mounted in this
way, the rightmost signal controlled the right most track (the one closest
to the bracket mast), the next signal to the left controlled the next track
to the left, etc. Also note the signal arms for the main are mounted
higher than those for the siding on the bracket.

For an Eastbound train approaching this bracket on the main, the normal
block aspects are needed (clear, approach and stop and proceed) to give
information about subsequent block occupancy. Since this train is
physically constrained to proceed along the main, no diverging aspects are
needed, but since a Westbound train could be approaching to enter the
siding, the stop and stay aspect is needed. This can be accomplished by
adding a marker (single lamp) mounted under the upper arm.

A similar situation exists for an Eastbound train approaching this bracket
on the siding track, and the required signal aspects are the same.

Next time: Glue.
