        After reading the account of the accident and the conclusion    that the switch was tampered with, I fail to see how this has    anything to do with signal indications. 
  Jimmy:
   It was a case of sabotage.  The person that derailed No. 4 at the entrance
   to the middle track knew enough about signals to realize that if the switch
   points gap, the signal would display a STOP.  The bolts had been removed
   on the north switch rail and the south switch rail had been spiked to keep it in
   place, so apparently the north rail collapsed under the weight of the train.
   Although Signal Supervisors and others found the signal displaying STOP
   following the accident, what other indication would it display ? The
   report doesn't spell it out, but No. 4 was no doubt moving on a CLEAR.
   Because the head-end crew was killed, they didn't testify.  Harry Bundy
