Blue SD35

Looking at Steve's book (page 122) that it does appear to have blue on it......my shots of 159 are clearly black.......interesting to see how much blue paint is pealing off the car body re-exoposing the black. N&W didn't spend much money or effort cleaning locomotives prior to painting them. I have shots of former NKP units that had been painted blue, back to blue, and eventually back to nearly NKP. Between bad paint preps and strong locomotive washer use paint could come and go. One things for sure many N&W units looked like hell........but mechanically they were in good shape. Thanks for noting the "Pevler Blue" ex-VGN H24-66 stuck back in the pack in Steve's book.
Regards,
Ed Painter

Please correct me with if you have conclusive evidence otherwise, but I don't recall any former Virginian Trainmasters being painted in the Pevler Blue scheme. I have some missing units in my slide collection but of those I do have none are in blue. The former Wabash H-24-66's that were repowered by ALCO were all painted in Pevler Blue (I have shots of all of them) and some of former Virginian H-16-44's were also painted Pevler Blue.

I'm not looking to get this thread off topic, but I'm considering moving my modeling efforts from modern NS to 60's-70's-80's N&W and I'm looking for some photos. Would anyone happen to have any photos of a clean or newly painted blue GP9, RS11, or ex-Virginian Trainmaster? Any help would be nice.
