When I was working at Shaffers Crossing roundhouse in 1950, some of the
older machinists told me that when the N&W acquired the PRR K3's (that
became N&W E-3's) in 1930, they had trouble setting the valves --- or
possibly performing some similar type work -- until someone (from
"headquarters") belatedly informed them that the PRR engines had LEFT HAND
lead.
