Ed & Bob,

I do know Southern had problems with one of the afore mentioned valve gears, but not sure which without getting my Prince book.  I believe Walscherts was more common.  Remember also that USRA applied the Southern valve gear to most 2-10-2's built including PRR and ATSF.  Walthers even got this right on their 
2-10-2 model.
