Straight stop IS the same as Stop and Stay. In railroad terminology
there is no indication called 'Stop and Stay' it is simply 'Stop.'
Where I work we have the following:
Stop. - This means stop and stay, or as I say is it a straight 'Stop'
signal. Nothing else.
Stop and Proceed - which is just that, Stop and then Proceed at
restricted speed
Restricting - This is just like a grade signal, in fact a grade signal
is a Restricting. You do NOT have to stop, you can just keep grinding on
'em at restricted speed.
