Greetings from a new member of your society. I am Claude L. Chafin and i have written a book titled The Messenger which involves the shooting of ‘Doc’ Ellis by Elias Hatfield on July 3rd, 1899. The shooting occurred at the Gray Station, southeast of Williamson, West Virginia. Gray Station is no longer there and in my research, i find few places on your rail line that would accommodate a depot and seven sets of tracks. However, the court trial records record it just that way. Your historical map shows Gray Station but when i Google the site today it seems impossible that a depot and seven sets of tracks could fit in such a small place. Can you help me with a few answers?
