How about in 1956 from near Duffield running east back to Bristol shooting that Southern train (loco only) pulled by an N&W Z (that had pulled a little boiler duty at Foote mineral)?

More accurately, it is a certificate of membership in the ORT's Mutual Benefit Association, the organization's insurance wing. Because the photographs in the listing are not clear, I wrote the seller to confirm the man's name. I do not need this piece, as I already have one. They are nice certificates, measuring 12 x 18.5", and display nicely when framed. I have never seen Jacob Foller's name in any records heretofore. I did see the #41-#46 quick turn done more than once with the J?s; if #41 was on time, it was easier but not easy; if #41 was late it was difficult. But Js could get a #41 forty or so minutes late at Monroe and get it into Bristol on time. Same way on the eastbound trips. And the Bristol line was no picnic ? curves and grades abounded, and tested the acceleration potential that was built into the J. That?s why they put 70-inch drivers under that engine, and why they were well satisfied with that decision after it was done. Then they took the 610 up on the Pennsy in 1944 and ran it 111 MPH, at a driving wheel RPM of about 540. The PRR people said it rode better than anything they ever had up there except the S-1 6-4-4-6, which had 84-inch Baldwin Disc driving wheels.
