You are correct. Your pictures show the original twin Branch Tunnel and bridges. The bridges would have had numbers, the tunnel was probably Tunnel N0. 2. The new bridge(s)  would have a letter suffix if the original bridge number was retained. The new tunnels were built in the 1902/1904 time frame when the line was realigned and double tracked.

At Twin Branch, there is a sharp horseshoe curve in the Tug Fork.  Just to the North of the current #2 tunnel, the Davy Roderfield road is carried over the Tug Fork on an old narrow bridge, then through the hill by means of a tiny, rough, one-lane tunnel, then across the Tug Fork again on an a matching bridge (see photos).  I suspect that these bridges and small tunnel carried the N&W main at one time, prior to a re-alignment to improve operations.  Can any one corroborate this?  Would these bridges and tunnel have had numbers?  When the new ones were built, would the numbers have been re-used, or would new ones have been assigned?
