Thanks Jim. That photo is what I needed. It is a paint variation of the H2a Split sheet hopper.
Interesting that I have your book in my lap while I am painting an ex NKP war caboose (pg 108) and didn’t think to look at what was in front of me.
Mike: I had checked Fallen flags and it is not a split sheet hopper. Thanks anyway.

What paint variations do you expect to find? The series you have in mind were all built with the 24" letters. Probably some got repaints in later years in later schemes, but such photos would be in individual collections, if they exist.BTW: there is a color photo of 29677 on page 54 of my "N&W Color Guide." -split sheet sides.

It appears that is the only photo (#28500) that I have come across. I am looking for other photos for paint variations. Thanks Stephen Rineair

Does anyone know where I can find photos of the N&W H2a hoppers?
I have tried the NWHS Archives which produces only a couple of photos and the Virginian Tech with the same result. I am particularly looking for photos of the 28000 series with the split sheets.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
