As a note………this was from 11Dec…..not 11Jan….. @#$%$^%^%  (you always need to pay attention to details) - So its not anything new as a news article.  What it does represent even if its a month old (but still a high potential to be ongoing)……..is the reason (along with CPs’ bids) for why NS management is pushed to work for a lower operating ratio and fine tune the operation of the railway to increase shareholders value.  This puts NS into a better position to fend of suiters and if a merger or takeover were to actually take place put NS shareholders in a position to receive a greater value for their stock.  Lets hope NS stays independent.
