Virginian H14 Hopper Car Models

Russ, Russ, et al:

For quite some time I thought the MDC 3 bay ribside hopper was a reasonable
Virginian H-14. Then Bill McClure and some of the other guys made me look
closely at the pictures we have of that car (and the N&W H34)and I saw the
drop sides. Among the things we really "need" is a good model of that car,
and the N&W inherited cars and the copies. That said, when we put together
the Virginian hopper spreadsheet, available in the files of the Virginian
Yahoo group (which if you're modeling Virginian you should consider joining
if you're not already a member), John Munson and John Teichmoller posted
two different modifications to the MDC (and probably the Atlas Trainman)car
to make the car much better, especially on a layout at a reasonabe viewing
distance. Both modifications are a bit to long to paste here, and if this
list has a "Files" section I've forgotten how to access it. If you're
modeling after 1955 it might be well worth doing, especially since I think
we've got pictures of the cars, some still with the Virginian lettering,
running into at least the 1980's.
