Wasn't Flickwir also involved as a treasurer or something like that while
the SVRR was under receivership in the 1880's right before it was taken
over by the N&W?

The first photo shows a cute little 0-4-0T stencilled "David W Flickwir -
Roanoke, Va." Since this engine is marked with Flickwir's company name, it
was likely owned equipment, rather than leased for the particular job. It
would be very interesting to know how the Flickwir engines, shovels,
four-wheel dump cars, etc, were purchased, maintained, transported from job
to job, and disposed of.
