Foreign Interlockings

Walnut AVENUE, not Street is listed as No. 6. That is the VGN crossing over the Winston Salem line. JK was the name of the place.

The was an interlocking situation at the west end crossing of the N&W Roanoke Belt Line over the Virginian in 1930. I seem to recall seeing some sort of building there on an early map, and cannot locate it at the moment, but it probably was changed to a manual interlocking like Norcross at some point early on.

I doubt Glasgow would be considered an interlocking as it was not a crossing, but a connection, and the building list bears me out that there was no structure there.

Bear in mind the following is a bit convoluted. These are the hand written lists (in most cases) listed in the 1917-1930 building lists. Now in some cases, they list a place as "Interlocking Tower" some other places are a "Signal Tower" what the difference is, I am not certain (for purposes of this listing). We know, for example that the brick tower at Lynchburg crossed the C&O, but it is listed as "Signal Tower" I've not listed every signal tower, just places where I found them of interest. Note that I have used the terminology that is hand written here, my note is in parenthesis) 

Norfolk Division
MP 2, Interlocking Tower (South Norfolk)
MP 6, Interlocking Tower
MP 81, Signal Tower (Petersburg)
MP 88, Jack
MP 204, Signal Tower (Lynchburg, west of Passenger Station)

Shenandoah Division
Hager tower is not listed, so assumed not N&W owned.
MP 126, Signal Tower (Winston Salem)

Scioto Division
MP 580, Tower (Interlocking) (Ironton)
MP 582, Tower (Interlocking) (Ironton)
(No, I am not repeating myself, tower A and tower B if I recall correctly)
MP 655, Signal Tower (Renick)
MP 656, Interlocking Tower 
MP 696, Tower (Valley Crossing)
MP 698, Tower (Bannon)

As far as I know, there is no foreign road crossing the N&W on the Radford or Pocahontas Divisions.
