Old Bridge Near Roderfield, WV

Jeff,
I'm fairly certain that this bridge carried the old/original main line
prior to the re-alignment that straightened out the bend at Big Sandy. My
question is how did the old main lie from the East side of that bridge to
the point at the East end of town where it almost meets the NS
right-of-way. All the roads shown of Google Maps in town appear to have
angles that would have been too sharp to form the old roadbed. The most
logical route, to me would have been a basically straight line connection
from the North end of Ora Avenue diagonally across town to join back in
with route 7 as it leaves town. But this route would cut through about
half a dozen currently existing buildings. This seems to run contrary to
the trend that I have observed of maintaining the old roadbeds as
automobile roads after the tracks have been removed. Hopefully someone has
some more information of the evolution of Big Sandy.
