signals under electrification

Jim,
I cannot confirm or deny your hypothesis, but in my research for
the Electric Book, I found they had to convert the signals, that were in
place before installation from DC power, to AC power which is what the
electrification used. All the photos I have seen show semaphores, but
color position lights were technically possible.
