Based on my reading of the Jefferson Post over the past several months as this project has been discussed http://www.jeffersonpost.com/news/7830/aldermen-discuss-budget-hear-caboose-update the current location in the gravel lot on the back (Depot) street will be the final location for the caboose. The committee from the Ashe County Historical Society which brought this project to life has plans to add access ramps, permanent power and other enhancements to the display.

Ken,

You are to be commended for making sure it receives an accurate color choice. It is too bad Bristol did not offer Bart any assistance. BTW, is the present location of the caboose permanent or will it be moved again to a purpose-built location?

It will certainly be painted blue, I am getting them current paint specifications.

I'd certainly think a blue cab rolled over the branch, since its last run was 1977.

It was moved last week and now rests on Back Street in that town which seems to be quite enthusiastic about having a caboose. It looks like they intend to paint it blue. Anyone know if a blue cab ever traveled on the Creeper run?
