Didn't find an obituary as such (other than what was in the
Times-Dispatch) but did find several articles about Walstrum, his death,
and funeral. A search on "Walstrum" and May 1915 in the Virginia Chronical (
https://virginiachronicle.com/ -- the Library of Virginia newspaper
archive) turned up the results.

SKETCH OF LIFE.

Mr. Walstrum was born at Charlottesville, Va., April 19, 1855. At the age
of sixteen he was employed as telegraph operator at Alexandria, and has
since been continuously in the service of the Western Union Telegraph
Company. February 1, 1899, he was appointed superintendent of telegraph of
the Norfolk & Western Railway Company, and from that time to his death,
represented jointly the interests of the railway company and the telegraph
company.

In 1872, he married Miss Laura Cudlipp, of Fredericksburg, who died in
1897. Mr. Walstrum is survived by his daughter, Mrs. A. G. Kindred, of
Roanoke, four sisters, and two brothers.

He was a member of Pleasants Lodge, No. 63, of Masons, Knights of Pythias,
and Royal Arcanum.

VETERAN OFFICIAL.

Mr. Walstrum was among the oldest in point of service whose names appear on
the official calendar of the Norfolk & Western. Being thoroughly familiar
with the subordinate as well as the official side of commercial and railway
telegraph service, he was peculiarly well fitted to discharge the duties of
his important position.

Frank in his dealings, easy to approach, and in a position to sympathize
with the ups and downs of the men who served under him, he always was
regarded as a friend to the telegraph fraternity on the railway, and in his
long service as head of the telegraph department, he has maintained a high
standard of efficiency and loyalty. Mr. Walstrum was a veteran of the key,
and was widely known in the ranks of the Old Time Telegraphers' Association.

He was at one time chief operator for the Western Union at Richmond, and in
that position came into contact with many of the best-known telegraphers of
the period when the calling developed some of the strongest men in the
country's later history.
