regional nomenclature question

Blue Ridge Region is a relatively recent term, like the last 10-12 years, a brainchild of folks trying to market the area, that simply did not want to call attention to the name "Roanoke" alone.

Further, while Lynchburg is considered as Central Virginia, it is also considered part of the Piedmont Region, while Danville and that area is called "South Side"
