One location where the original alignment is still visible is east
of Montvale on US 460 beyond its crossing of Goose Creek.
Here, the highway divides with an embankment that can be seen
adjacent the west lane and the east lane utilizing the original grading. 
En route to the mobile home park in Thaxton one afternoon, I met
a car in the "S" curve.  It was traveling west on the eastbound
Apparently the driver wasn't respecting the current of traffic thing.
