Dr. Greer:
Those door-less box cars were primarily en route to agricultural
stations in North Carolina routed N&W-Norfolk-NS. Without doors ,
the box cars were kept in limestone service. Too many times,
a forty foot box (with doors) cleaned to handle packaged cigarettes,
for example,would return to the owning road coated in limestone dust.
