Further research on Google and a NC road map shows existing CLNA (spin off of the Norfolk Southern Thoroughbred System) tracks going through nearby Plymouth and street view shows the Southern Bank in what appears to be a former railroad depot/station.

Abram,
If you are keen for peanuts, Mackey’s Ferry would be your stop on the way to the Outer Banks.

I have never heard of Mackey's Ferry, NC, on the N&W.
This could not have been on the Virginia-Carolina Ry (the Abingdon Branch,) as that was not yet finished to Todd, NC in 1905. And the North Carolina Branch never made it to North Carolina, and therefore it could not have been on that branch.
So was this on either the Lynchburg & Durham or the Roanoke & Southern.
WHERE was Mackey's Ferry ?
JOB ASSIGNMENTS:
Mr. BLACKSTOCK - You find the Engine number.
Mr. DUNCAN - I want to ship a load of iced turnips to Mackey's Ferry. Please get me a rate per cwt. and prepare a waybill.
Mr. BUNDY - You supervise Messrs. Blackstock and Duncan and make sure they do not pull any of their usual and customary shenanigans.
