Broken loco driver spokes

I believe the first eleven Js had spoked lead truck wheels; these were all replaced with solid wheels.  I never heard a specific reason why, but the spoked wheels had separate tires and the solid wheels were just that.

Not driving wheel spokes, but didn't some Class J locomotives
enter service with spoked wheels on the ummm lead truck ?
What was their problem ?
