Richlands coaling tower?

Wait a minute.  Didn’t I hear of a passenger train being detoured due to a wreck on the Bristol Line of either the N&W or Southern?  And that the train had to go to either the Clinchfield at St. Paul or the L&N at Norton to get back to its regular route somehow?  If this is indeed that train, it could very well be Richlands.  But it isn’t Vicker.  

Anybody shed any light on that detour?  That would be the only explanation I could think of that would put Southern passenger equipment through Richlands.

That is a westbound train at Vicker, VA just west of Christiansburg.
