Subject: Re: N&W 120Ton Wreck Crane
VMT had it scrapped? The Va Museum of Transportation? I'd be quit surprised at that.
I am pretty sure it also escaped scrapping by the Va. Scrap Iron Yard much like the lost engines that survived. It was only a couple of years ago, I believe it was dragged or lifted onto the belt line track. I have pictures gleaned from a from an on-line posting from somewhere. The article talked about rescuing it. Also had pictures of the crane sitting in the weeds at Va Scrap and later on the Belt Line tracks. See below.
The N&WHS MofW roster indicates it was still sitting on the belt line tracks last summer. See link: http://www.nwhs.org/data/mow/view.php?ID=1511
I am just curious where on the belt line. I will be in town for the upcoming convention and planned to do some exploring and if possible take a few pictures. I am modeling the crane using a Tichy kit. It is built but I need to figure out the appropriate lettering for the early 50's. In its current state I am guessing the lettering is post the 50's but not sure. A few pictures wouldn't hurt for my archives.

I am wondering if anyone knows the whereabouts of the former N&W steam powered wreck crane numbered 514908.
It sat in the Va. Scrap Iron yard for many years until it was saved by the Va Museum of Transportation back in 2012. It was then placed on the tracks of the Roanoke Belt Line. It was there at least up until June 2018.
Is it still on those tracks? Where on the Belt Line? or has it been moved to another location?
Thanks!
