Pusher Power

There was an incident in 1957, I think, where Jawn Henry collasped a wood caboose.  A photo was published in Trains Magazine.  I saved my old magazines, but I don't know when I will have time to search for the issue. It would have been a 1956 to 1958 issue.

  That ‘wood” caboose was not a frail as it looked.  It had a heavy Duryea cushion underframe – steel, of course – and wasn’t likely to fold up under reasonable stress.  Of course, if Jawn and the Y-6 were both working wide open, that might make one nervous.  But there is no indication that Jawn is doing much of anything here.

  Wasn't there some kind of limit as to the amount of power that was "allowed" behind a wood caboose?  I should know, but I thought it better to ask you.
