Very interesting Bud. Never knew 1206 made two separate trips north. Thanks
for sharing. Would love to see a pix of it being barged over to Long Island.
I'd be surprised if it went through Penn Station and both tunnels.

1206 made two trips to the New York World's fair. It was there from
2-16-1939 to 9-18-1939. Next year it went back from 5-9-1940 to 10-27-1940.
Don't have any information about the route for the these moves but it is
very likely there were four of 'em on the Shenandoah Valley line. So it was
there for about 12 months total over the two calendar years.

Jimmy Lisle mentioned N&W A 1206 being displayed at the New York World's
Fair. It definitely travelled the Shenandoah Division but I suspect
dead-in-tow. Here are snapshots of 1206 at Chambersburg, PA 25 miles north
of Hagerstown. Notice the main rods are not on the engine, and the engine
is spit polished for the Fair. Photo is at the PRR Chambersburg passenger
station. So today 611 will pass this very location on its way to Strasburg.
611 departed Shepherdstown passing siding at 4:45 pm 08/20.
