  There are a few really devoted bikers that do pedal up hill. The masses
use the several van (with trailers for the bikes) services to get up to
White Top. It is the biggest business in Damascus.
  You might also appreciate the now annual Yeti 100 mile challenge for
runners (including our niece in her thirties) who run down, up, and down
again in less than 24 hours. That means no sleep! And running in the dark.
Whew!
