Yes it stop all together in 1921 then they started putting Norfolk and Western on the cabs sometime around 1930 I think this is the date he's wanting to know then went back in May1941 puting Norfolk and Western on the tank side

My apologies, I found the scan of the bulletin, Motive Power Department Notice No. 936 that reads as follows:

TENDERS — STENCILING OF — LOCOMOTIVES

In the interest of economy, it has been decided to omit the stenciling “Norfolk & Western” on the each side of tender tank and stencil the initials “N&W” on rear end of tank just under stenciled coal capacity, shown on drawing B-12095, revised April 12, 1921.

The stenciling on each side of tan is not to be removed, but it is not to be perpetuated.

The initials “N&W” are to be applied at Roanoke Shops and all other points on the system where adequate facilities are provided at such time as new stenciling is required.
