Unusual steam

Most likely is the boiler being blown down.  The big engines had a blowdown that could be operated from the cab. On the 1218 and 611, it's on the fireman's side, but I can't confirm which side it was on with the Y's.It let's out water and muck from the mudring of the engine.  Normally, it was piped from the valve through a muffler which sends it shooting out from underneath the cab, pointing back under the tender. The blast that you see is where it blows out from underneath the tender after leaving the muffler.Thanks,Will Sadler
