EdK offers a great insight into steam mechanics and operations as usual. I can attest that the sound didn’t get any quieter with excursion steam, either! LOL. And having taken part in my share of boiler washouts, I can attest it’s amazing how much gunk can accumulate in a loco from boiling (treated) potable water under pressure.
