ACL R-1

Hello all,
Do any of the old heads know if an ACL R-1 4-8-4 ever pulled a N&W
passenger train on  the N&W, also when the N&W bought the tenders of these
engines were they delivered still attached to the engines.  I have a H0 R-1
and am looking for an excuse to run it on my N&W layout circa 1953.
