 Having spent some time at Shaffers Crossing Car Dept. one of the things you didn’t want to find was water in a journal box.   EdK:
During the BRAC strike of 1978, there was a prominent officer of the Motive Power Departmentthat was engineering an eastbound St. Louis to Frankfort.  Near Linden, IN, a journal flamed upand he went to a local grocery and guess who he called ?  SOC, the System Operations Center.Eventually, the local fire department was called and they came out and distinguished the flames.Rather than set the car off, he elected to take it on to Frankfort.   He replenished the journal box,not with water, but with journal box lubricant.  That's when the car flamed up again and thefire department came out again.                        Harry Bundy
