As for the dates of the N&W photos in the Barriger collection there is at least one that is dated. Photo 133 at Kenova is dated as 12/30/39.Another really interesting photo is #72 which shows a variety of coal cars. It appears that the car with the four pairs of transverse doors is an HSb hopper. According to the the Andrew Dow book, Norfolk and Western Coal Cars, these cars were converted from HSa's, with the HSb's first on the roster in 1924. All the HSb's were either off the roster or converted to HSc hoppers by 1936. So at least for photo 72 that would place the date between 1924 and 1935Shawn Harley
