Westward, the original main line veered to the east atNaugatuck and turned north near Lenore on today's Lenore Branch.  This route was known as the Twelve-Pole Line.  In 1904, the Big Sandy line was completedNaugatuck to Kenova.  Mile Posts on the Big Sandy areID'ed as NA.  The Twelve Pole route had a 3300-foottunnel and tonnage ratings required some westbounds to"double the hill " from a siding near Lenore.
