"The C&O graded its Potts Creek Branch for 22.97 miles, but only 
constructed it for 19.70 miles to Bess. The Potts Creek PO was located 
about one mile beyond Bess."

Alex, Did the C&O lay rail upstream past Jordan mines? Bess seems to be 
approx 5 miles beyond Jordan Mines. When did the C&O abandon their Potts 
Creek Branch? There's no rail line shown on a 1947 USGS map.
