Gaylord, Va. question

Way wrong: VDOT says that the northside bridge was built in 1947 (reconstructed in 1987) and the southside was built  in 1980. I cannot believe that… The 1936 bridge has been removed.

The road was upgraded in late 60’s, I think. I-66 opened in mid-71, and I began using that route ‘tween Roanoke and Baltimore. I’m pretty sure the upgrade had already be done.

Does anyone out there know when the first Route 340 N&W overpass at Gaylord, Va. was built ? A 2nd one was added some years later so the highway today is a 4-lane divided highway at that point. I know the post office at Gaylord was closed in 1956 is all.
