Hopper Delivery.

The original Farm Coaling station was connected directly to the Standard
Pocahontas Coal Company mine.

Subject: Re: 1950?s Pokey Farm question #2 - Coal Supply ?

Forgive this question from an East-of-the-Alleghenies Hillbilly, but I need
to ask ...

How was the coal wharf at Farm supplied with coal? Was there a mine in the
adjacent mountain, which shoved coal out through an underground conduit, the
coal being then raised to the coal bunker by machinery in the white elevator
house ?

If that is the case, it would be very interesting to know how the railroad
signaled when more coal was needed, and how amounts furnished were estimated
and charged for... all information of which is now probably long vamoosed.
