Five Retarder Yards on the N&W - One at Bluefield ?

I can't comment on the retarders as I never saw them, but, I did see them humping (so to speak) cars and brakemen riding them down the hill. There was also a motorcar to bring the brakemen back to the top of the hill.Jimmy LisleSent from my Verizon, Samsung Galaxy smartphone
