It is not the main line. It is the Kimball Loop and it is after the electric lines were taken down. The new double tracked main line was put into service in 1912, but the Kimball loop was also. Electrified and continued to be used. Some parts the loop remained in service until 1953, so the picture is probably between 1950 and 1953.
The Kimball aerial is circa 1928 and shows the war memorial being built. Kimball 1941 shows the electrified loop behind the gas station.
For anyone who has a copy of “The N&W in West Virginia,” there is a 1926 drawing of the Kimball loop on Page 269.

All,
I don't think this is on the main line. Note the pole line at the extreme right. Look how close it is in proximity to the Colored War Memorial Building. Rather, I think this is some kind of belt/house track remnant that was left in place of the original main line that ran down the present US 52. Plus, look how large the parking lot is in comparison to what is now left.

Based on the very late '40s Packard, I'd agree that the photo is in the 1940's, probably around 1948. 'Bout the best I can do. That impressive building should be a dead giveaway to someone familiar with the area.

is labeled: 2071 with cars, Eckman VA (sic).
However, the substantial, columned building behind the tender seems to belie this being in Eckman. The automobiles look 40s to me. Does anyone have any thoughts on the correct location for this photo?
Thanks,
Jim Cochran
