Kim of no relation. Several years ago, I got real interested in the articles. Found Al's house in Bluefield and took pictures of it. I have a lot of info about Bluefield, the Clinch Valley and the rest of the Pocahontas Division during that time frame. If you'd like to talk about it, my number is 304-633-8512.

Marty, great idea scanning this article. I stumbled across a September, 1944 issue of Railroad Magazine in an antique store in Wapakoneta, Ohio, several years ago. It had two N&W centric articles - one called “Geared for Tonnage” that gave a nice description of the full railroad, with “ride along” descriptions (in a dated folksy writing style that seemed to be common before the war) describing train operations through several areas. It was really interesting.
I may follow your lead and pull it apart and scan it.
