I whole heatedly support this initiative. With a huge nod to Ken, The Arrow
is one of our greatest assets. Putting it into new people's hands would be
a great opportunity.
It would require special coding on the website to allow to order for
someone else. It would also be beneficial to require that you provide your
own membership info in order to place the order, so that people can't use
it for themselves. Finally, you'd want to make sure that the mailings
included a special card indicating this was a trial membership and
including information to sign up for future membership.
They say that habit is one of strongest behaviors in humans. Make it a
habit to receive the mailings.
I would take it a step further and require an email address, so that those
persons could be signed up for the emailing list. So they get used to
seeing the conversations here. It would also be beneficial for the society
to be able to send out emails when they're account is a couple months from
expiring.
