Mainline hopper movements

Jim,On the Cloverdale branch, the register book was kept in a box located at the mainline switch entering the branch. Only one crew could occupy the branch at a time.Our train would pull up to the switch.  The head brakeman would get down to check the register book, sign in and open the switch. On return, get permission from the dispatcher to open up and occupy the main and sign out on the register.Later on in life they powered the branchline switch and the dispatcher took control allowing trains onto the branch, thus doing away with the register book.Jimmy LisleSent from my Verizon, Samsung Galaxy smartphone
