NWHS members Louis Newton, Landon Gregory and I attended the unveiling of
10 new Link prints. The reception was held in the main lobby of the
former N&W Passenger Station, now the Roanoke Visitors Center.

Jim Sears, President of Center in the Square; David Goode, Former CEO of
Norfolk Southern; and Congressman Bob Goodlatte reminisced about meeting
Link and the efforts taken during the creation and construction of the O.
Winston Link Museum. Current Norfolk Southern CEO Wick Moorman praised
the high standards of the Link Museum and the new Taubman Art Museum. He
then called for an equal level of support for revitalizing the Virginia
Museum of Transportation to bring it up to the same high standards. Jim
Wrenn, Editor of Trains Magazine spoke high praise of O. Winston Link as
the most famous of a long list of significant railroad photographers,
calling him "the Ansel Adams of the East."<br><br>

* T.H Hankins holds his son up on the fence at Jefferson St as an
S1 passes<br>
* Ralph White waves from a bagge car<br>
* Y6 in the washer at Bluefield<br>
* Extra merchandise freight heading south, passed Lithia with a
Y6, locomotive 2180<br>
* Freight South at Luray<br>
* Inside Roanoke Station<br>
* Passing cabbage tobacco, Abingdon Branch<br>
* Y6 #2159 looking through roundhouse door<br>
* Wytheville Station, incoming train<br>
* A diesel, #2905 heavily coated with snow and ice [SRR locomotive
pulling a Southern through passenger train at Roanoke.]<br><br>
Nearly all of these were daytime photos.<br><br>
