I'm away from my files right now, but the ICC issued a report<br>
on this derailment.&nbsp; The cause ?&nbsp; Sabotage.&nbsp; Someone with<br>
knowlege of signaling moved the switch point to route No. 4<br>
into the middle track.&nbsp; Knowing that it would shunt the signal<br>
to display stop if the bond wires were left in tact, the culprit<br>
rerouted them.&nbsp; Strictly by recollection, but I believe the<br>
engine was 133.&nbsp;&nbsp; Because the west end of the middle track<br>
is just east of a moderate curve, it was not possible for the<br>
engine crew to see the position of the switch points.&nbsp; Taking<br>
into account the time of night and the speed, I doubt that<br>
that any action by the crew would have prevented a&nbsp;<br>
derailment.<br>

What's fuzzy is the culprit.&nbsp; Some say a post office worker<br>
was arrested and tried in Portsmouth.&nbsp; I've never seen<br>
anything to verify that.<br>
