<DIV align=center><STRONG>Pennsylvania Does Not Control</STRONG></DIV>
<DIV align=left> In an interview, President L. E. Johnson, of
the Norfolk and Western Railway Company, said that there would be no change in
the management of the Norfolk and Western Railway because of the recent purchase
of $19,000,000 Norfolk and Western stock by the Pennsylvania Railway
[<EM>sic</EM>] Company. Mr. Johnson added that the Pennsylvania does not
control the Norfolk and Western. He would not say, of course, if the
Pennsylvania would buy more Norfolk and Western stock.</DIV>

<DIV align=center><STRONG>Railroad Officials Here</STRONG></DIV>
<DIV align=left> L. E. Johnson, president of the Norfolk and
Western, arrived in the city last night on train No. 3 in his private car and
was joined here by General Manager N. D. Maher, whose car was attached to No.
17. The gentlemen spent the night here and will leave this morning on a
special for Bostick, which is on the southern end of the Carolina, Clinchfield
and Ohio.</DIV>
