<DIV align=center><STRONG>Goes to Surgeons' Meeting</STRONG></DIV>
<DIV align=left> Dr. J. Francke Fox left last night for
Cincinnati to attend the meeting of the Norfolk and Western surgeons in that
city tomorrow.</DIV>
<DIV align=left>[<EM>Before medical care was widely available, the N&W had
an arrangement for private-practice doctors to be associated with the
company. Does anyone have any information on this little written about
relationship?</EM>]</DIV>

<DIV align=center><STRONG>Superintendent Cook Here</STRONG></DIV>
<DIV align=left> J. W. Cook, superintendent of the Radford
division, arrived in the city on the private car of N. D. Maher last night and
will leave for Roanoke this morning.</DIV>

<DIV align=center><STRONG>Long Passenger Train</STRONG></DIV>
<DIV align=left> No. 3 last night was the longest passenger
train that has passed through the city for quite a while, being composed of
thirteen cars and pulled by two engines, having four Pullmans and the private
car of N. D. Maher, general manager. Two extra Pullmans were provided for
the accommodation of the Norfolk and Western physicians who are en route to
Cincinnati to attend the annual meeting of the company physicians, which will be
held in that city tomorrow.</DIV>

<DIV align=center><STRONG>Go to Visit Son</STRONG></DIV>
<DIV align=left> President L. E. Johnson, of the Norfolk and
Western, and Mrs. Johnson, left yesterday for Detroit, Mich., to visit their son
who resides in that city. They were accompanied by Mr. Geo. P. Johnson as
far as Portsmouth, Ohio, where she will spend a few days as guest of her
parents.</DIV>
<DIV align=left> </DIV>
<DIV align=center><STRONG>Wreck Delays Traffic</STRONG></DIV>
<DIV align=left> Train No. 18 arrived here nearly three hours
late yesterday, owing to a wreck at Welch. Freight train No. 84 ran into
the rear of second 76, derailing the engine and several cars. The track
was cleared in time to allow No. 4 to get by.</DIV>
